Prior to the outbreak of the Great War Alexander Doggart worked at the Glen Printing and Finishing Works in Newtownards. Alexander enlisted in July 1915 in Newtownards and he trained with the 18th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles at Clandeboye. He was posted to the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles and was killed in action on 18 June 1917 in the front-line west of Warneton, Belgium. https://barryniblock.co.uk/ |
